Who’s making it big in the music industry? THE 2013 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

It’s awards season, and don’t we just love this time of the year. The entertainment industry is buzzing with all these awards however, I am more interested in the film and music industry, and of course, the fashion that comes with it. I shall particularly focus on this year’s Grammy Nominations that have brought veteran artists like Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Kanye West, Maroon 5, Florence and the Machine, and so on… Leading the pack, we have The Black Keys, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and fun.

One thing that can be said about the music industry in 2012 is that we have seen a shift from the regular genre of things – there is a bigger appreciation and love for pop and garage, and we have seen this shift fully take over the hip-hop/rap and R&B unlike previous years.

I shall personally be rooting for Frank Ocean, fun and of course, Carly Rae Jepsen. And yes, the latter too. We all bobbed our heads to ‘Call Me Maybe’ – you can’t deny that. Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you look at it, PSY was not nominated for his infamous ‘Gangnam Style’ song. Not even for ‘Song of the Year’. Some critics speculate that it might be because the song is not in English and the Grammys are based in the United States. Either way, we love you PSY!
